A group of people came together in a field and decided to deal with waste at festival sites through recycling & re-use because this concerned them.
The volunteers within the former project have dealt with the consumption levels of 66,800 persons – put in context that’s a city population half the size of Bath.
The Make A Green Team quorum has facilitated volunteering opportunities for 597 persons from all walks of life.
The organisation has received funding of nearly £64,900 through our working format with UK pay festivals to operate 24 festival waste & recycling schemes.
The Make A Green Team quorum has funded 6 community festivals waste & recycling schemes totalling £7,700 to date (2010).
The orgional project operated without ANY public funding since 2005 – this being, grants or gifts from public funding bodies or private trust funders.
Make A Green Team has set realistic UK standards that can be attained on green field UK festival sites through local operated waste & recycling schemes.
The first project developed a practical methodology to deal with consumption factors on green field sites which we share to enable effective waste & recycling schemes for community events. This was termed Scumbusting.
Through access to recycling facilities Make A Green Team on UK festival sites has enabled attendee’s participation in dealing with their own consumption responsibilities.
Make A Green Team as far as we know have actioned ‘the highest recorded recycling levels’ at key UK festivals of ANY UK waste & recycling operation to date. We've under pinned ‘Greener Festival Awards’ gained by a number established UK pay festivals through our organisation & volunteer support.
Our unique developed methodology has been incorporated and used by other community festival concerns and as aspects of blue prints in Wales by the Welsh National Assembly’s events waste & recycling practice guidelines.
